How to Buy a good bottle of wine for under ten dollars?

Right, this is an important question, because I love wine, but I am not always the best at buying it. I need to know how to buy a good bottle of table wine for under $10.00 dollars.

Use the person at the wine shop and go to tastings. Our local wine shop regularly has tastings that include wines under $20, and has $10 nights a few times a year.

Another thing to remember is that for reds, blends, Merlots, and Syrahs (Shiraz) are the safest bets. I like Six Prong Red, House Red Wine (Magnificat wines), and Amberhill Merlot.
