Make Wine
Can you really make wine out of anything?

My parents hate me this time. I have a cat. A big, fluffy cat that needed rescuing. Big fluffy cat means big, fluffy hairballs.
So now I have cat hair everywhere and I need to do something with it. My parents really love wine and I’d like to give them a bottle for an anniversary present in a year or two to let it age AND get rid of all the cat hair.
Can I make cat hair wine?

No, you can’t. Whatever you use needs to have a good amount of natural sugar. The yeast eats the sugar and sh*ts alcohol.

These new recordings of mostly recent Gill compositions are the culmination of a project aimed at recording four distinct albums: rock, romance, vintage honky-tonk, and acoustic. The Rockin’ Record, virtually perfect from start to finish, begins with “Workin’ on a Big Chill,” its swampy groove straight out of John Fogerty and a showcase for Gill’s guitar virtuosity–a groove he resumes on “Cowboy …

Bring Me Your Love is whisper-soft yet lush, with minimal production and warm acoustic instruments. Opening with the our-love-is-gonna-go-wrong song “Forgive Me,” Dallas Green (Alexisonfire) aches his way through lyrics like “I’ve been known to fall in love/but sometimes love just is not enough/and my heart will stray.” The lead track, a one-night-stand ode entitled “Confessions” has a similar lyr…

Keanu Reeves is completely wooden in this romantic misfire by Alfonso Arau (Like Water for Chocolate). Reeves plays a World War II vet who hits the road as a traveling salesman and agrees to help a desperate, pregnant woman (Aitana Sanchez-Gijon)–who is afraid to let her father (Giancarlo Giannini) see her condition–by pretending to be her husband. Most of the story takes place in the old man’s …

The Mouse That Roared

The Mouse That Roared

$6.94

The Mouse That Roared (1959) is mostly remembered as a tour-de-force by a peerless comic actor, Peter Sellers, playing all three of the principal roles. It’s worth seeing for that reason alone, but the film is also one of the most memorable satires of nuclear geopolitics produced during the cold war and, along with another Sellers vehicle, Dr. Strangelove, provides an unbeatable illustration of th…
