How does one “pour out their soul” like Hannah, Job and the Suffering Servant of Isaiah 53?
1 Sam 1:15 – And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.
Job 30:16 – And now my soul is poured out upon me; the days of affliction have taken hold upon me.
Isa 53:12 – Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
These scriptures all reflect a different action… But the overall concept is the same… These people had encountered great sorrow in their lives, and the emptiness that they felt is in he description of their soul being poured out..
Hannah soul was exceedingly sorrowful for the lack of a child, Job had lost everything, and the servant Isaiah speaks of ws taken as a lamb to slaughter… A foreshadow of Jesus sacrificing HIS life in suffering for us on the cross…
