Total Wine And More
How to deal with this situation?
I am the tenant of the upper floor of a 2 storey duplex. The owner of the building and his wife, both in their 70s, live in the first floor. I’ve been there since 2000 and we have been (and still) like wine and water, total mutual respect, cooperation, and some quick visits for a coffee. Briefly everything is fine, excepting one hell of a detail that is getting on my nerves more and more: The old man seems to have sharp ears and I guess he follows my steps above for a reason I ignore. Now since some time, I noticed him, repeatedly, open his front door and, trying to make it look spontaneous or coincidental, he follows me with his eyes, as I head to my car, or walk down the street.
This is happening since about a year now. I am a discrete person and want this “innocent” spying on me to stop there forever. But I want to communicate this to him in a polite, diplomatic way.
Any suggestions?
Sounds like he may be suffering from some kind of mental condition, or he’s just a nosey old man. I would actually have fun with it. Walk out..then “forget something” and walk back in. Then walk out, and back up. LOL See if he actually goes in and out of the house with you 
Then pull out of the driveway, go around the block and pull back in. Go up, then back down and out of the drive… Or everytime you see him when you leave the house stop and make it a point to ask if he needs to talk to you. If you point out the fact that you know he’s looking at you (politely this way), he will realize how rediculous he looks.
