What is the best way to experience Napa Valley? Is there a good wine tasting tour or something?
It is very easy to do it yourself. There are more wineries than its possible to visit in a few days. Most are fully set up for visitors.
The only advantage of a tour is that someone else drives, letting you drink without worry. But on the other hand the tour will go to the big commercial wineries, and not necessarily the ones you want to go to, and may not give you the time you want to taste.
There is plenty of free information when you get there, with maps and magazines about wine and wineries in hotels and restuarants. But it is worth doing some research first and decide which wineries you want to visit.
TIparticularly liked Sterling for its fun cable car trip up thehill to the weinery, and Mumm for their excellent tour and decription of making sparkling wine, also Story at Calistoga (nextto the geyser) for its unusual grape varieties).
But, as I say, you’ll have your own choices visit and youcan do it on your own. Best to have a non-drinking partner to drive. Enjoy
